I noted in the original invitations, etc, that biodiversity hardly rated a mention. The issues were those that hit the average suburban's ablity to fill their pool or wash down the driveway (ie water). or see their watefront real estate values dive (ie impacts of climate change). Rather sad given precedents such as the Wentworth report, and of course, never die issues like dryland salinity!

made me appreciate how out of touch politicians and the urban population are with issues that dont directly affect their lifecycle or feature on the front or back 3 pages of the Telegraph.

"She'll be right mate". Or my favorite Joh quote, "Don't you worry about that."

I note with dismay that the only direct reference to the protection of Australia's biodiversity in the initial report of the 2020 Summit www.australia2020.gov.au  was the following stated ambition:

"Australia’s globally outstanding ecosystems and species are managed to reduce threats and build resilience to promote adaptation to climate change."

I hope that the final summit report (due in about one month's time) provides some detail on how this may be achieved!
