I am wondering whether anyone knows of useful research and / or information on buffer widths. This is an issue we all probably come across on a regular basis and it appears that there is a lack of research on buffers, particularly in Australian conditions. There are of course many variables in relation to buffers, including vegetation type, widths, slope, hydrology, type of adjoining development and what you are trying to protect, and what is actually permitted in a 'buffer'. Beacuse of this lack of research (and due to site specific issues influencing requirements), there appear to be no set standards and it is all very subjective. I would appreciate peoples thoughts on this topic! |
