Dear All,

Recently I went out in the field for two weeks and come back to 300plus emails. Knowing the next few months would be busy I went to Telstra and enquired about a wireless internet card for my notebook. The guy there was really helpful and actually discouraged me from going down that path due to the cost etc. What he suggested was getting Pre-paid Wireless Broadband. The units about the size of a standard memory stick and comes with all software and $10 worth of credit. An idiot can load this thing, its so easy. As long as you have mobile coverage, you've got internet/email access. I got one and headed back out north west and gave it a try. The town, if you could call it that, was an hour and a half from any major city. Besides for a hiccup at the start where the one I initially bought didnt have the software loaded [an issue Telstra tells me with a "batch" that went out] onto it (I ended up taking my notebook into Big W and loading it there to ensure it had the modem had the software the second time around), the thing works like a charm. I added $50.00 worth of credit to it, downloaded emails every day, responded to emails, downloaded webpages (plant id's, veg maps, Google maps etc etc) and was able to watch Youtube clips whilst sitting in Sydney peak hour traffic and, of the $60.00 I had on it ($10 free and my $50) after two weeks I'm down to $47.00 worth of credit !!!This time I came back to no emails, definitely some happier clients cause I resolved issues then and there and less stress for me. I seriously recommend this product to anyone travelling away into the field for longish periods. I notice, besides for Telstra, a number of other phone companies are jumping on the band (or should that be broadband..hehehe) wagon.

The one I bought from Telstra was $149.00.

Later all, see ya round the Elliot traps sometime
