I had to review another consultants report recently and noticed in their list of threatened speices in the region (based on literature/database search) they had listed the Macquarie Perch. Fair enough, what was weird is they said teh Macquarie Perch was listed under the TSC Act as Vulnerable. Whilst I know this not to be true, a quick search of the DECC website throws up this link (http://www.threatenedspecies.environment.nsw.gov.au/tsprofile/profile.aspx?id=10960). There, on the DECC website is the Macquarie Perch and its listed as Vulnerable. Click on Vulnerable and this takes you to the definition provided under the TSC Act. Confused I tried Grey Nurse Shark, same thing happened. This resolved the issue of the other consultant considering that the Macquarie Perch was listed under the TSC Act but can anyone shed light on why fish are listed, including threats and recovery recommendations, on the DECC website, not DPI?? Yes the other consultant should ahve known better, but hey, isnt everything provided on the web true??!!
