About the Role:

We are seeking a passionate and motivated mid-level Ecologist to join our team based out of the Premise Orange office with the view to nurture and develop the successful candidate with a clear path to progress into a Senior level role within the team.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide technical advice and quality services to staff and clients while completing delegated environmental projects.
First point of contact for environmental queries, working under the supervision of a Senior Ecologist.
Assist in training junior ecologists and environmental staff, including field supervision.
Undertake environmental assessments, testing and analysis, field assessments, data collection, analysis, and report writing.
Field surveys of fauna, flora, general environmental significance and water quality.
Desktop studies, including database queries, mapping, interpretation and reporting.
Environmental Management Plans (EMP) and scientific reporting.
Management of the design of projects, and assessment and documentation of client requirements.
Assessment, monitoring and auditing of project performance.
Preparation of invoices and monitoring sub-contractor accounts and internal recoverables.
Project management, client liaison, and collaboration with project team members and leaders.
Relationship management with approval authorities regarding performance and delivery of contract requirements.
Assist with Fee Proposals, Environmental Impact Assessments and Project Reports.

About You:

Sound experience in environmental fieldwork and the ability to work safely in the field and autonomously in remote areas.
Exposure to a range of environmental planning projects.
Ability to design, plan and conduct ecological field surveys.
Understanding of State and Commonwealth legislation applicable to biodiversity impact assessment and offsetting.
Practical knowledge of Biodiversity Offsetting at State and Commonwealth level.
Sound knowledge of systems and procedures relating to the role, including practical knowledge, principles and methods of environmental science/engineering.
Proficient with IT, including mapping and modelling software packages.
Hardworking team player, able to manage multiple projects.
Meticulous attention to detail and pragmatic problem-solving to draw strong conclusions.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Ability to build rapport with clients, colleagues, and management.
Experience managing projects, budgets, teams and client and stakeholder expectations.
Ability to prepare fee proposals.

Experience and Qualifications:

Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Conservation Biology or related discipline.
2+ years’ experience in a role of a similar capacity.
Current driver licence (C Class).
Biobanking and/or BAM accredited or capacity to work towards accreditation.
ArcGIS (or other GIS system) competent.
